What the casino theme means

Copper Meeple organises offline themed events for people gathering at a physical venue. The casino style is part of the setting and hosted activity: tables, cards, décor and croupiers create a recognisable social occasion.

Casino-style activities use play chips or points only. No money is staked, and no cash or prizes of real-world monetary value are awarded based on play. The service does not provide online casino access, betting accounts, deposits, cash-out or real-money gambling. Guests pay no stake to participate in the table activity.

Our 20+ business policy

Copper Meeple’s hosted adult-themed entertainment is for people aged 20 and over as a business policy. This is our chosen admission policy for the service, not a claim that New Zealand law imposes a universal 20-year age requirement on every non-gambling themed event.

The organiser should communicate the age policy in invitations and attendance arrangements. We discuss appropriate entry and venue procedures when planning the event. We do not collect dates of birth or identity documents through the initial enquiry form.

For a wider corporate family fun day, any children’s activity zones, providers and supervision must be separately agreed with the organiser. They must remain separate from our adult casino-themed programme. A family-day enquiry needs to identify the age mix before a suitable scope can be proposed.

Play materials and participation

Play chips and points are entertainment materials. They are not redeemable for money, goods, gift cards, discounts or anything else of real-world value. Results at the table do not determine access to valuable prizes, paid opportunities or a fundraising reward.

Hosts explain the format and help guests participate comfortably. Guests can watch, take a break or spend time in conversation. The programme should not pressure people to continue or make participation a condition of enjoying the wider event.

Fundraising and separate activities

A charity gala can include displays about a cause and separately organised fundraising arrangements. Those arrangements must not turn the casino-themed activity into a stake-and-prize system. Donations, entry contributions or purchases must not buy play advantages or determine a reward from casino-style results.

Raffles, auctions or other fundraising mechanisms need their own appropriate legal assessment and responsible organiser. They are not automatically included in a Copper Meeple booking. If the proposed event changes the relationship between payment, chance and prizes, we must review the format before agreeing to provide it.

New Zealand context

Whether an activity is gambling depends on what actually happens, not just the words used to promote it. The programme must remain consistent with the non-gambling format described here. The Gambling Act 2003 provides the relevant New Zealand statutory framework.

Themed styling is not a substitute for reviewing an activity that includes payment, chance or a valuable prize. We do not use this website to disguise a gambling service or promise that an event or advertisement has been approved by a regulator or advertising platform.

Comfort, alcohol and safety

The event plan should allow clear movement, suitable seating and a way to step away from an activity. Share relevant access adjustments early so the venue and hosts can discuss practical arrangements. Avoid sending detailed medical information when a description of the required adjustment is sufficient.

Alcohol is not required for the programme. Where drinks are supplied, the venue or relevant provider is responsible for the permissions and service obligations that apply to it. The organiser and event team should coordinate safe attendance, transport considerations and respectful behaviour.
